88 How Did Emergency Physician Fathers Prepare and Cope at the Beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic?

Emergency physicians (EPs) are always on the frontlines and many EPs thrive unpredictable. Despite this, COVID-19 pandemic posed unprecedented challenges to all EPs, including challenge of how prepare for cope with a pandemic. This subset analysis aimed evaluate impact specifically lives EP fathers. From May 2 through June 16, 2020, convenience sample physician fathers was surveyed their personal professional preparedness COVID-19. Surveys were distributed via Physician Dads Group (PDG), an international Facebook group covering medical specialties, LinkedIn, contacts organizations. 260 surveys completed by (Table 1). Of respondents, 77% between 30-49 years, 84% White, 9% Asian, 1% Black; 31 U.S. states represented. 98% reported they had partner. At time survey, 63% felt in high-density area 88% having cared COVID+ patient. About half taken steps personally or professionally local (46% 67%, respectively). fathers’ top two concerns exposing partner child(ren) COVID-19, followed acquiring 44% didn’t have change schedule care children, while 37% did; other did not school-aged children already home. In terms preparation, about 67% made sure adequate food, 60% financially prepared, 46% 41% obtained PPE self family, respectively. To professionally, almost (97%) educated themselves 68% self-educated pandemics, 72% reviewed critical literature. The three biggest morale staff (48%), financial (45%), health (43%). that balance responsibilities worsened, 17% improved. When asked if wished go into medicine, disagreed/strongly disagreed. gone specialty, 89% more prepared than findings highlight concerned family becoming sick but also at work.
